Thanks for getting back. I’ve been given the go-ahead by Anne and Julie given the next committee meeting will be towards the end of July. Would do no harm to get that confirmation minuted for both Cycling and Longer Walk groups.

I’m sticking with the official gov.uk web site and – in particular – Public Health England, an organisation I know something about. There’s a lot of disinformation around. For the time being there’s no specific time limit. Unhelpful, but that’s how it is.

Weather forecast has been changing a lot, but it seems to have settled down and we should be dry tomorrow, so the ride is on. Please check back here tomorrow before joining the ride but if you don’t see anything to the contrary, see you tomorrow.

Weather forecast for tomorrow is dry, but not warm.

    I’m inclined to go ahead.

If you can make it, see you then,

The forecast for tomorrow is highly uncertain. We could get away with a dry ride, but we might also get drenched.

I’ve managed to pick up a cold so I’m inclined to postpone to next Tuesday, 8th with the hope of a better forecast unless someone wants to take on tomorrow’s ride?

The only alternatives to the off-road sections involve the busy A286, I’m sorry to say.

I just found this web site which says of the ‘Hard road closures’: “The roads will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists”.

So it looks like we’ll be able to get through.

Brian has reminded me that we’ll need to be aware of the D-Day preparations at Southsea.

I plan to come back up the west side of Portsea and across Hilsea Lines – so that won’t be an issue.

Peter will be checking the situation on Saturday and I’m sure Mike and Maggi will be keeping a close eye on what’s happening.

I plan to have some routes up my sleeve in case we need to get round the D-Day site.

The BBC weather forecast is now showing 50% chance of light rain all morning. In the past that has proved pessimistic, so I plan to turn up at HIADS at 10. If no-one else is there, I’ll postpone to next Tuesday.

We have a few people prepared to ride on Tuesday and the weather’s looking OK so I’ll be at HIADS at the normal time for a ride to the Woodmancote via the Spring.

I plan to ride on the 8th as well, but I won’t commit until closer to the time in case the weather is poor.

All the best for the new year,

Weather’s looking reasonable for tomorrow (Tuesday) so we’re on. The ferry is on its winter timetable so we will meet at the Hayling side of the ferry to catch the 9.45 sailing or the Portsmouth side 10 minutes, or so, later.

Mike and I discussed this on Tuesday and agreed we’d keep the 10am start (we have quite a lot to get through) but stagger it so you won’t miss anything.

We have a quorum for the workshop on the 16th so I’ve added an event to the web site here.

It will be at my house (we might have to postpone or look for a different location if the weather’s not good). Click the ‘Venue’ link when logged-in to the web site to see my address.

It’s about two hours out from HIADS at our normal pace,
