KeymasterThe forecast for tomorrow is highly uncertain. We could get away with a dry ride, but we might also get drenched.
I’ve managed to pick up a cold so I’m inclined to postpone to next Tuesday, 8th with the hope of a better forecast unless someone wants to take on tomorrow’s ride?

KeymasterThe only alternatives to the off-road sections involve the busy A286, I’m sorry to say.

KeymasterI just found this web site which says of the ‘Hard road closures’: “The roads will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists”.
So it looks like we’ll be able to get through.

KeymasterBrian has reminded me that we’ll need to be aware of the D-Day preparations at Southsea.
I plan to come back up the west side of Portsea and across Hilsea Lines – so that won’t be an issue.
Peter will be checking the situation on Saturday and I’m sure Mike and Maggi will be keeping a close eye on what’s happening.
I plan to have some routes up my sleeve in case we need to get round the D-Day site.

KeymasterThe BBC weather forecast is now showing 50% chance of light rain all morning. In the past that has proved pessimistic, so I plan to turn up at HIADS at 10. If no-one else is there, I’ll postpone to next Tuesday.

KeymasterWe have a few people prepared to ride on Tuesday and the weather’s looking OK so I’ll be at HIADS at the normal time for a ride to the Woodmancote via the Spring.
I plan to ride on the 8th as well, but I won’t commit until closer to the time in case the weather is poor.
All the best for the new year,
Andy

KeymasterWeather’s looking reasonable for tomorrow (Tuesday) so we’re on. The ferry is on its winter timetable so we will meet at the Hayling side of the ferry to catch the 9.45 sailing or the Portsmouth side 10 minutes, or so, later.

KeymasterMike and I discussed this on Tuesday and agreed we’d keep the 10am start (we have quite a lot to get through) but stagger it so you won’t miss anything.

KeymasterWe have a quorum for the workshop on the 16th so I’ve added an event to the web site here.
It will be at my house (we might have to postpone or look for a different location if the weather’s not good). Click the ‘Venue’ link when logged-in to the web site to see my address.

KeymasterIt’s about two hours out from HIADS at our normal pace,

KeymasterMy experience with taking bikes on trains is limited. We’ve previously taken four or five bikes at a time without problem. Might have been the time of day, might have been more obliging guards. Who knows.

KeymasterThere’s a train to Petersfield from Havant at 10:40 that gets to Petersfield at 10.56. I’ll aim to be at CafĂ© Mezzo from around 11. We can decide a route back when we meet.

KeymasterThe weather forecast hasn’t been very useful of late but it looks likely to be damp tomorrow. I’ll keep an eye open for another opportunity.

KeymasterI understand the ride didn’t happen on Tuesday because of the weather.
I’m happy to lead a postponed ride on Tuesday 10th but keeping an eye on the weather in the meantime. I’ll make a decision over the week-end.
