Yes, that’s right. See you there,

With the latest forecast, I’m thinking a shorter ride would allow us to avoid potentially heavy showers in the afternoon.

Hella’s right. The weather forecasts say rain is increasingly likely as we go towards lunchtime. But the Met Office is pessimistic with a 60% chance at 11 rising to 90% at 3. The Met Office says 36% rising to 50%. My personal preference, Metcheck, says 27% of 0.1mm (not a lot) rising to 33% of 1.8mm (not a downpour, but we’d definitely notice it).

The wind forecast has died down a lot.

With just David and Peter opting to join me, I suggest we meet up at HIADS at 10 to make a final decision.

BTW, Calvin – the guy in blue in the video – is an icon if only for his moustache! If you’ve searched YouTube for ways to do things with your bike, you’ll almost certainly have come across one of his excellent Park Tools videos. It’s true they advertise the products but he manages to be informative regardless of which tools you use.

Apparently he’s retiring – which is a great shame for us, but his videos will endure.

I’m inclined to ride tomorrow. It will be damp, but not too bad. There’s a chance we’ll get caught by rain on the way back so we’ll try to keep the stop at the Crate short, and come back using the A259 (cycle path where we can) which will also help those wanting to get back for afternoon events.

Sorry to say but the forecast tomorrow is for rain all morning. So I propose to postpone to Tuesday 10th February.

Unfortunately, very heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow, 13th January, so I’m afraid it’s another postponement.

Rather than delay another week I suggest we ride on Wednesday 14th January instead. It will be cold, but not forecast to be wet.

    This is my planned route.

The rough stuff is between Grassmere Way and Calshot Road.

To avoid it, you could retrace our route through Rowlands Castle but I’d not go up Blendworth Lane. I’d use Rowlands Castle Road instead.

You might be tempted to use the B2149 as it’s a more direct route, but it’s a horrible road which I would avoid.

Weather’s looking OK for tomorrow, so I’ll be riding. See you at HIADS/The Spring. Depending on timing I might leave you at the Spring on the way back.

You’d be very welcome. Weather is looking much better, but it’s a long way out.

Really sorry to hear that, Sue.

Let me know if I can help.

Still showing wet and windy for tomorrow, so I think we’ll have to postpone to next Tuesday.
