Andrew Lloyd, national subject adviser for pétanque, is planning the first ever U3A weekend of boules at Hayling Island and has received enquiries from 150 members of 15 U3A groups. Contact details will appear here if you read this news item from the members' area.

The Third Age Trust has arranged a special viewing of the Australian Ballet's production of Swan Lake at the London Coliseum on Thursday 14th July.
The Australian Ballet is one of the world’s leading ballet companies and U3A members will be able to attend a talk given by Adam Bull and Amber Scott, two of the principal dancers in the company at 12.45pm followed by a performance of Swan Lake at 2.00pm.
This event is organised by the Third Age Trust.

U3A Royal Society ‘Staying Sharp’ Lecture in association with The European Alliance for the Brain.
Speaker: Professor Richard Faragher, ARCS DPhil FSB
Professor Faragher is an entertaining and informative speaker, familiar to some U3A members. He will explore the potential to transform health in later life, the current state of research and dispel false myths about ageing, among other topics - helping us to ‘seize the day’.

The National Gallery Collection
June 2nd 11am - 3.30pm - £18 per ticketFollowing the success of our joint ventures exploring paintings in the National Gallery’s Collection both chronological and thematically, the National Gallery is delighted to be hosting another U3A study day which will focus upon the 17th century Baroque style in Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands. This follows on from the study days on Italian and Northern Renaissance paintings
The meeting will introduce key themes and concepts, functions, chronology and techniques. The day will provide you with a well-rounded experience of various and fascinating aspects of the age of Baroque.
Join National Gallery experts for a baroque extravaganza. Enjoy a feast for the eyes, from the courtly splendour of works by Rubens and Van Dyck, to the light, darkness and drama of Rembrandt and Caravaggio’s revolutionary paintings.

Russell McKerracher runs the Canasta group which meets at 2pm on the second Saturday of each month at the Age Concern Hall.
The group is considering playing cribbage at the same time and is interested to know if you would like to join in.

Reading B has started meeting and, following discussion, has decided to switch from the fourth Thursday to the fourth Tuesday of each month. The first meeting on the new day will be Tuesday 22nd March.
