Some groups have no space for new members. The group page for these groups contains a link inviting people to register interest in the group, like this:
When you click the 'Register your interest' link, you'll see a simple data entry form like this:
Note the web site detects you aren't logged in and provides a link to log in and return to the form if you are a member. You will then see a simplified version of the form and your membership will be recorded along with your interest.
To protect against spam submissions we use Google's latest 'I'm not a robot' challenge.
When someone registers their interest, group leaders are emailed automatically together with a nominated list of additional emails (which would normally include the groups coordinator, for example). Group leaders and site editors can also retrieve a list of interest registrations and delete those that no longer apply (we'll show you how later in the walkthrough).
