Andrew Negus is back

Having stood in for the 'owls' in April, Andrew has changed the topic of his planned June talk to "Southampton - Water, Slaughter and Trade". This is the first of two talks about Southampton.

The meeting is next Thursday, 15th June at 2pm. Click/tap here for more details.

Next visit: Swanage

We're going to Swanage, a traditional seaside town on Dorset’s beautiful Jurassic Coast on Thursday 7th September.

There are a variety of things to do when we get there. We are therefore charging only £23 per member for the trip to cover the coach and driver's gratuity. It's up to you what you do when you get there. Possibilities include:

  • A railway trip to Corfe Castle or the Purbeck mining museum
  • Exploring the town and seafront
  • Walk in Durlston Country Park

There's more about Swanage and surrounding attractions here.

More email improvements

You might be familiar with the blue box explaining how to reply to some of our emails. We know it can be irritating, especially when you forget to change the reply address.

The web site now monitors responses to the emailer. It tries to work out who you intended to reply to and, if it can, will forward your reply to the right person. Either way, it will tell you what's happened.

We've also implemented a protocol called "DMARC" - this is the pinnacle of email authentication and means we've done everything we can to avoid your emails being rejected or treated as spam.

Please do your bit by:

  • Adding regular HIU3A email addresses to your address book
  • If you find one of our emails in a 'spam' folder, mark it as 'not spam'
  • If your email allows, tell it the 'haylingu3a.org' domain is safe.

Click/tap here to see more information about how to do that at the bottom of the article.

Thank you,
