    This is my planned route.

The rough stuff is between Grassmere Way and Calshot Road.

To avoid it, you could retrace our route through Rowlands Castle but I’d not go up Blendworth Lane. I’d use Rowlands Castle Road instead.

You might be tempted to use the B2149 as it’s a more direct route, but it’s a horrible road which I would avoid.

Weather’s looking OK for tomorrow, so I’ll be riding. See you at HIADS/The Spring. Depending on timing I might leave you at the Spring on the way back.

You’d be very welcome. Weather is looking much better, but it’s a long way out.

Really sorry to hear that, Sue.

Let me know if I can help.

Still showing wet and windy for tomorrow, so I think we’ll have to postpone to next Tuesday.

The Regency Tea rooms in Staunton Country Park would be a good alternative. I was going to get to Rowlands via Woodberry Lane. If the Bumblebee is shut we can continue towards Havant and use the Regency.

    Thanks for the heads up.

The web site is self-contradictory. This page says “Open six days a week” at the top, then “five days a week” further down. Its Facebook page says Wednesday to Sunday as does Google. Bing says Tuesday to Sunday.

All say it’s closed today so I can’t check with the cafe direct.

I’ll try Ian Hewitt. He should know. In the meantime, I’ll create a backup plan.

    A tale of woe.

Having fixed the puncture, I got as far as the Billy trail, having put on some speed to try to catch up. I then punctured again – back wheel again. Another flint but high up on the sidewall which is unusual. I think I must have picked it up while the tyre was deflating the first time.

Anyhow, I had no spare tubes left and figured nature was telling me something, so I abandoned.

I left a message on Mike’s phone which I hope you got so you weren’t waiting for me at the garden centre.

Forecast has improved (slightly). All the sites I monitor say the temperature will stay above freezing overnight, so I think we’re on for tomorrow.

I haven’t sent one yet. I’m concerned about ice. Metcheck is showing temperatures getting close to 0°C. Still watching the forecast.

Keeping my eye on the weather. Looking dry but cold at the moment, so probably a shorter ride to, say, Stansted Garden Centre.
