We'll see a lot of black-headed gulls nesting and rearing chicks. We are also likely to see Mediterranean gulls and - hopefully - some terns. We have timed the visit to coincide with the rising tide making the wading birds more visible in the pool to the south of the oyster beds.
Shaun McCullagh, an experienced member of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) will be on hand to help us identify the birds we see.
The oyster beds are a short walk from the car park at North Hayling Halt on the Billy Trail (see map above).
