Visit to Denbies on Wednesday, 13 September 2017

Dear Member,

This is just to remind you, if you have not already booked, that spaces are still available for the above visit.

About Denbies

The Denbies Estate, based in Dorking, Surrey, has been family owned and run since 1984. Denbies vineyard was planted in 1986 and since then has become one of the largest wine producers in the UK with 265 acres of vines. Denbies indoor winery tour runs every day all the year round, offering visitors an insight into wine production in the UK. A seasonal vineyard train tour gives visitors a new experience in wine growing and making.

The flint-clad Chateau-style Visitor Centre hosts two restaurants; the indoor Garden Conservatory and the third floor Gallery Restaurant providing spectacular views of the estate, together with a diversely stocked wine and gift shop and garden centre.

We anticipate arrival at around 10:30. This will allow time for coffee prior to the...

Classic wine tasting experience

This tour starts at 11:00 in the brand new flat screen cinema featuring "The Vineyard Through the Seasons". This explains the geology and history of the estate and shows the changes in the vineyard through the seasons. It gives an appreciation of the wine making process from vine to bottle.

This presentation is followed by the Winery Walking tour passing through the working winery with a full commentary from Denbies Wine Tour Guide. You will see the equipment used in the day's wine production with particular emphasis on the sparkling wine disgorging line installed in 2013.

The tour ends in the atmospheric Denbie's cellars where you will be guided through a tasting of Denbie's classic wine.

The Garden Conservatory restaurant

We'll have plenty of time for lunch after the tour. The restaurant serves:

  • Light Lunches
Comprehensive range of salads, local cheese platters, home-made soups and freshly made sandwiches and selection of panini
  • Hot Lunches
A choice of four hot meals including one vegetarian daily.

Sparkling outdoor vineyard train tour

The 50 minute vineyard tour by covered train starts at 2pm. It takes visitors at a leisurely pace to some of the most beautiful viewing points in the vineyard. A recorded commentary enhances the trip making this an informative and comfortable way to experience the magnificent panoramic views of the Denbies Estate and the North Downs. Cameras recommended. At the end of the tour you can enjoy a glass of specially selected Denbies Award winning Sparkling Cuvée.
