October's monthly meeting
The meeting on 20th October at 2pm is titled "Christmas: life and other problems". It's been four years since Judy Theobald first presented to us, so it's time for a follow up. She promises the talk will not be remotely educational or instructive.
For 30 years Judy worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor and BBC radio presenter as well as having been a police officer, freelance writer and theatrical landlady.

Visit to Wisley Glow
Our next visit on 23rd November will be to Wisley to see the light show around the grounds. Pick up will be around 1 pm and the trip will include a cream tea and entry into Wisley. The cost for RHS members is £34 and non-members £38. We have organised a 57 seater coach which is already half full.
More details and an online booking form here. You can also book a place at the October monthly meeting.
Car parking at monthly meetings
A reminder that we are still able to park at the Barley Mow when we hold our monthly meetings. If you are able to park there you will free up a space for someone else who otherwise might have to miss the meeting.
Membership subscriptions are not due
In the past we renewed memberships around this time. However, we moved the renewal date to 31st March 2023. You don't need to renew at this time.
Monthly meeting tea monitors
We are looking for a group of members to help make the teas/coffees at the monthly meetings. If we have a team of volunteers, we would be able to have a rota sharing the responsibility. So please let me know if you can help.
Committee members
We are looking for volunteers to join the Hayling u3a committee to shadow and help the current officers when needed. By volunteering you would find out more about how the committee works and the duties of the various officers. Contact me for further information.
Hayling repair café
The Hayling Repair Café will be opening on the last Saturday of each month at the United Reform Church 10am – 12.30pm. The first session is on 29th October. You can contact the organisers via repaircafehayling@gmail.com. You can book a slot or just turn up with your broken items for repair. Volunteer repairers are very welcome.
Havant u3a quiz night
We have been invited to submit a team of up to 6 people for the Havant u3a quiz night at 6.30 pm on the 15th October at Bedhampton Community Centre. It is £10 per head inclusive of a fish and chip supper. Let me know if you wish to submit a team.
