The Story of the Schneider air races
At next Thursday's monthly meeting (17th October) Colin van Geffen covers the history of the Schneider Trophy from its inception in 1912, to the last race in 1931 and beyond. A time when Britain led the world in aviation design and technology, and took pride in its achievements.

The Service will include contributions by Mill Rythe and Mengham Primary Schools together with students of Hayling College. You are welcome to attend.
We will also place a memorial plaque in the Community Centre on Wednesday, 13th November. Because of limited space, this event will be ticket only.

Years of change exhibition: steward rota update
We've had a good response to last week's request for stewards. Thank you to everyone who has stepped forward.
There are still some slots that need to be filled. You can see the latest list here.
If you can help, please contact Frank Wonnacott.
Blues appreciation group
We've had an offer to run a Blues appreciation group. The potential leader's initial thoughts are:
The group would be a regular gathering of like-minded people with an interest in the Blues. You maybe a lifelong devotee of the genre, or just know it’s out there and want to know more. We would aim to:
- Review the lives of influential American Blues artists of the 20th century.
- Listen to examples of their recorded music.
- Consider and listen to British music influenced by these artists.
- Occasionally attend appropriate music events.
- Subject to members music abilities, play/sing some of these songs.
Initially the meetings would be at the leader's house on the 4th Monday of the month from 2-4pm. He can accommodate about 6 people. He has a good collection of blues recorded music and literature and would appreciate having fellow members who could contribute to one or more of the following:
- Have an interest in Blues and a desire to enjoy the genre, through listening and discussion.
- Ability and willingness to prepare and give a presentation.
- Contribute musically or vocally.
