Hayling Island u3a - November update

In this update:

  • The miracle flower
  • Visit to Wisley Glow
  • Portsdown u3a annual lecture

The miracle flower

This Thursday, 17th November, we'll find out about the role of the poppy in commemorating the fallen since WW1 from Jeremy Prescott, an ex-army officer.

Click/tap here for more details.

We'll also be having mince pies with tea or coffee afterwards.

Visit to Wisley Glow

There is currently one place available for this visit on Wednesday 23rd November. If that place is taken, you can add yourself to a waiting list in case of cancellations. You can find out more and book online here. Alternatively, come and chat with Catherine Britton at the monthly meeting on Thursday.

Portsdown u3a annual lecture

We're invited to Portsdown's annual lecture next Wednesday, 16th November at Cosham Baptist Church 2pm - 4pm. Jane Glennie will give a dramatic presentation on the life of Violet Jessop (1887 - 1971) covering her experience as a nurse, as well as telling the story of Violet’s escape from the sinking of Titanic’s sister ship, Britannic.

You might remember Jane's presentation to us last year which focused more on her escape from the Titanic itself! Violet also served on the Olympic when it collided with a warship. A very lucky (or unlucky) lady.

Entry is free, but you need to book a place through email address admin@portsdownu3a.org.uk.
