Welcome to the Christmas Bulletin 2020. As you know we normally have a Christmas Newsletter but with the current situation, finding articles for a full-scale publication is more difficult so we thought that we would send you all a Christmas Message and give you an up date on our plans for the New Year.

For 2021 we are currently planning the following:

  • Monthly Meetings – we will be trialling holding our monthly main meetings via Zoom. The first talk will be "Taking you on Safari" by Bob Hornby on January 21st at 2pm. Log in to see connection details.
  • Reduced membership fees next year –the Executive Committee have agreed to reduce the membership for all you loyal members who stood by us and paid your membership fees this year. The charge next year will be £5 for those continuing your membership from April 2021.
  • Save this date: Thursday June 17th 2021- we will be holding our Open Day and show casing as many of our activities as possible.
We will be hiring the Community Centre and Radford Hall for activities throughout the day including our monthly talk.
  • We will also be looking at ways to relaunch our U3A to build up momentum again following the pandemic. Ideas are always welcome – so get in touch with us if you have suggestions.

Hannah Hone, one of our members, has been busy producing a short publication entitled ‘Haikus for Hayling Island’. She is selling them in aid of HICC fund and they can be purchased from the Hayling Island Community Centre at £5. A lovely gift for someone – ideal for Secret Santas.

Are you keen on using Facebook and other social media platforms? We are looking for someone to spearhead publicity for our U3A in this format for the coming year. Please contact Anne or Julie (Co-Chairs) if you or someone you know may be interested.

In the October Newsletter we notified you of the Executive Committee members who are standing down at the next AGM. We are still looking for nominations for the Secretary post. If you or someone you know would be happy to discuss the role, please contact Anne or Julie (Co-chairs) and they will be able to talk through the duties.

Finally: Merry Christmas & wishing you a Happy and Healthy 2021

Anne and Julie
