Meet at the public car park by the Community Centre to car share. It will take about 50 minutes by car so we need to leave promptly at 9.15am. We will car share to the free public car park in Chawton, opposite Jane Austen's House. Postcode GU34 1SB- Grid ref. SU708375. We aim to start walking at 10.15am.
The circular walk has a few gentle slopes at the beginning and there are 6 stiles. These stiles are pretty user-friendly in that once you have climbed onto the first step you don't have to get your leg-over very high. It has a lot of good shelter in the event of bad weather.
There are some lovely cottages and buildings on the route and a fascinating folly opposite the Church in Upper Farringdon. Most of the route is on footpaths though we have to walk a few country lanes in the villages.
We will lunch at the Greyfriar Public House (Cassandra's Cup Tea Rooms will be closed).
Any queries to Jorj Boulton.
This is the route we took. We went round clockwise starting in the car park near Jane Austen's house.
