Group leader: Chris Skerry - Contact Chris
We meet from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon on the third Wednesday of the month at the Royal British Legion behind the Co-Op on Hayling Island.
We discuss a topic previously chosen by a group member. She/he then introduces the topic, followed by a discussion where each member contributes as much as they wish. In some cases, material is sent out before the meeting to enable the group to prepare for the session.
Many members use the internet to discover information relevant to the topic, and this often enriches the discussion. We have a coffee break after an hour, which enables general conversation. Topics covered in the past, include:
- AI
- Religion
- Co-operativism
- Fairness
- Rights and Responsibilities
- Assisted Suicide
as well as the thought of individual philosophers ranging from Confucious to Marx.
No previous knowledge of philosophy is assumed, but an open mind is a big advantage. .
