Group leader: Chris Skerry - Contact Chris

We meet from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon on the third Wednesday of the month at the Sunny Side Hall, 14 Webb Lane, Hayling Island, Hampshire, PO11 9JE

Special free parking arrangements are available. There is a kitchen where members can make drinks.

We discuss a topic previously chosen by a group member. She/he then introduces the topic, followed by a discussion where each member contributes as much as they wish. In some cases, material is sent out before the meeting to enable the group to prepare.

Many members use the internet to discover relevant information, which enriches the discussion. We have a coffee break after an hour, which enables general conversation. Topics covered in the past, include:

  • Plato
  • Ideology
  • Arne Næss
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Assisted Suicide

as well as the thoughts of individual philosophers ranging from Confucious to Marx.

No previous knowledge of philosophy is needed, and an open mind is a big advantage.
