Meet at the public car park by Hayling Community Centre to car share and leaving at 9.15am, or go direct.
Park at the roadside near the river in Church Lane PO18 0QY, grid reference SU858123. Coming from the south you take the turning on the right before the Dean Inn. We aim to set off at 10am.
The walk (Great Coombes) is at West Dean. It is a triangular walk of 4.25 miles following West Dean Park's boundary wall and crossing the boundary with the Goodwood Estate. It takes in the Trundle. There are no stiles.
Lunch will be at the Dean Inn.
This is the route we took. Note there is a steep downhill section at the start.
