Meet at West Town Car Park at 9 a.m. for car share to the Ship Inn at Itchenor, postcode PO20 7AH, grid reference SU799013. Park in the pub's car park, or (if not staying for lunch) on the road to the water if there is a space, or in the public car park nearby (£1.40/hour).
The walk sets off eastwards along the shore, then circles back into the flat countryside south and west of Itchenor, returning via Chalkdock Point. Many paths are metalled or made of compacted gravel. Field paths were walked on a recce after heavy rain and there were some puddles which were easy to walk round, and not much mud. Total distance 5 miles, and no stiles.
