This Visit was advertised online for three weeks, and bookings were offered at the April monthly meeting, and only two bookings were made. The committee has therefore agreed to cancel it.

We'll be visiting Oxford. There's plenty to see and do there - just a few examples below - so the cost (£31 per member) covers the coach and driver's gratuity. It's up to you what you do when you get there.
The coach will drop us off at the Ashmolean Museum. See map above.
Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology

Britain’s first free Public Museum founded in 1683. Museum admission is still free and no booking is required. However, to guarantee entry at busy times, and to avoid waiting, the museum recommends booking tickets in advance.
In addition to the general displays and exhibitions, the museum plans the following to be open during our visit:
- Sir Winston Churchill at 150
- Demon, mother, maker of kings
- Cheung Lee and his 1960s Hong Kong contemporaries
- Kabuki Kimono
- Images of authority
More information about planning your visit here.
Bodleian Libraries

The libraries are placed at 27 different locations around the city.
The main site for visitors is the Weston library on Broad Street which offers free exhibitions, a café and shop. It plans the following during our visit:
You can also book one of several library tours.
Walking tours

Oxford offers several walking tours, including:
- Oxford official walking tours (although it's unclear what makes it official)
- Oxford walking tours
- Oxford castle and prison tour
Note that as well as walking, it's likely that tours will involve steps.
River cruises
Oxford river cruises offers a range of trips on the Thames (known locally as Isis) starting from Folly Bridge.
And there's more...

For example:
- Pitt Rivers museum
- Covered market
- Sheldonian theatre
- Westgate shopping centre
- Holywell street
- University church
- Faculty of music - does occasional free lunch time concerts, perhaps check dates nearer to our visit
- Have a picnic in Christ Church meadow
- Take a stroll in the Botanic garden
- See the famous Bridge of sighs and Carfax tower
Let us know if there's something else you think members might like to visit.
Mobility
The centre of Oxford has no hills, and the High Street and most of the sights we have listed are within half a mile of the coach drop-off.
However, most of the buildings are old and might have mobilty issues such as steps or stairs. See linked descriptions for more detail.
Event cancelled
Unfortunately we have had to cancel this event as we did not get enough bookings to make it viable. Sorry.
