A shorter Isle of Wight walk from Ryde to Quarr Abbey and Fishbourne

This is a pretty walk of under four miles from Ryde Pier Head to Quarr Abbey and then Fishbourne.

Depending on numbers going we may need to meet at the community centre car park to lift share.

We park at the Historic Dockyard car park near the end of Queen Street in Portsmouth in plenty of time to walk to the Wightlink Fastcat Terminal at the end of Portsmouth Harbour Station for the 10.15 crossing to Ryde Pier Head.

We have a pleasant leisurely walk from the pier head to Quarr Abbey on pavements and good paths with frequent views to The Solent and beyond. There are a few gentle gradients.

We can spend some time exploring Quarr Abbey Church and grounds before walking on to The Fishbourne where we can have lunch.

There is then a very short walk to the Fishbourne Ferry terminal for a 3pm or later crossing.

On the Wightlink website you can book as a return foot passenger, outward on the 10.15 Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head and say a 4pm return from Fishbourne to Portsmouth . You can catch a return ferry before or later than your booking time.

The cost is £22 for seniors. Parking at the Queen Street car park is about £10 for the day.

There are toilets at the Fastcat ferry terminal, Ryde Pier Head, Quarr Abbey grounds and The Fishbourne as well as the return ferry.
