Longer walk: Chichester Harbour

We plan to organise car shares in advance, so will not meet at West Town Car Park.

High tide is at 7.53 BST (height only 3.8) and again at 20.45 BST so the road through Bosham Quay and the road which runs along the shore facing Bosham village should be passable.

Park safely by the roadside on Lower Hone Lane, Bosham Hoe, postcode PO18 8QW, grid reference SU801022, as close as possible to the Itchenor Ferry and meet for walk start at 10 a.m.

We start by taking the ferry to Itchenor (£3) then follow the Coast Path to Birdham, Chichester Marina, Dell Quay, Fishbourne and the creek opposite Bosham.

We will stop for coffee at Chichester Marina around 11.15 and stop at Dell Quay around 12.30-12.45 for picnic lunch. There are also opportunities to go slightly off the planned route into Bosham for an afternoon coffee.

We then return to the cars, for a total distance of 10 miles (or nearer 11 miles if we divert into Bosham).

It should be generally dry underfoot but there may be a few muddy and puddly stretches after heavy rain. A recce on 14 April found some isolated muddy areas, all of which were easily passable.
