This walk was delayed from 5th September.
As this is now a winter walk, it has been amended to not follow the shoreline at Farlington Marshes as that will be too muddy, and to travel to the start of the walk by bus.
Catch the 31 bus which leaves Sandy Point at 9.30 and The Barley Mow at 9.47 and alight at Woodbury Avenue bus stop (by the Langbrook Farm pub) at 10.01 for the start of the walk.
Drivers can park in Southbrook Road, Langstone, Havant, PO9 1RL and cross to the Woodbury Avenue bus stop (about 5 minutes' walk) to meet the rest of us off the bus.
This is an 8.3 mile walk as far as the Hayling Ferry, with only 20 feet of ascent. In addition there is about a mile of walking back from the Ferry to the nearest bus stop on Hayling.
We go to Broadmarsh Coastal Park and Farlington Marshes then down the east side of Portsea Island to Eastney, where we take the Hayling Ferry back to Hayling.
We will stop at The Thatched House (at 6.2 miles) for lunch at 12.15-12.30.
The route is mostly paved so there should not be any problems with mud but please wear appropriate footwear given the weather forecast or if there have been rainy conditions in the preceding days.
This is the planned route:
