We will not meet at West Town Car Park but will arrange car shares in advance.
We will park in West Wittering near the top of Jolliffe Road or residential roads leading off it e.g. Southcote Avenue postcode PO20 8ET, grid reference SZ790972 and meet at the junction of those roads.
We will start the walk when everyone is ready, and 10.00 at the latest.
This is an 8.9 mile walk with minimal height gain. We go North across the fields past Keith Richards' residence, Redlands, to Itchenor and stop for coffee at either the Ship Inn or the Quarterdeck. We then walk South-East along the side of Chichester Harbour past Chalkdock Point and finally view East Head (but don't walk over to it). We will stop to picnic in a suitable spot. We turn to walk back to the cars along West Wittering beach.
The route is normally dry underfoot. However there may be some mud in one or two places if we have a lot of rain shortly before the walk, particularly in the 2 miles or so after Chalkdock Point where there are stretches of the path between high hedges where the sun rarely gets through to dry out the mud.
