Longer walk: Bursledon and Hamble

We will not meet at West Town Car Park but will arrange car shares in advance.

Park at Bursledon Station (free) postcode SO31 8AA, grid reference SU489096.

We will start the walk when everyone is ready, and 10.00 at the latest.

This is an 8 mile walk with 500 feet of height gain. We take the A27 road bridge over the Hamble then head South by the side of the river to Universal Marina (possible coffee stop). We then go inland slightly to Holly Hill then back to the river to cross by the Pink Ferry (£2.50).

There are options for pub, café or picnic lunch in Hamble (e.g. King and Queen) before we head briefly to Hamble Common then North across Hamble Airfield and Mallards Moor back to Bursledon, where there are more pub options (e.g. Fox and Hounds, Jolly Sailor).

The route is normally dry underfoot. However there may be some mud in one or two places if we have a lot of rain shortly before the walk.

Postponed from 6 September because of rain.
