Longer walk: Stroud, Froxfield & Ramsdean

We plan to organise car shares in advance, so will not meet at West Town Car Park.

Turn off the A272 to park at the Seven Stars Pub (Hall and Woodhouse) at Stroud, postcode GU32 3PG, grid reference SU723236 for walk start at 10 am. We will leave food orders at the pub before starting the walk. Anyone not planning to use the pub later can park free in Ramsdean Road or Stroudfields, just West of the pub.

The first mile will be hardest, as we climb North out of the valley past Cold Hill and then head for Froxfield, where the route turns South-West. We recross the A272, descend Sir William’s Hill (which might be slippery), and circle Barrow Hill to enter Ramsdean, before following the lane back to Stroud for lunch.

Surfaces are mainly grassy tracks and stony lanes, with muddy stretches unlikely. I counted only 3 stiles.

The total distance will be 7.1 miles, with 850 feet of total height gain.
