An 8½ mile walk that starts close to home in West Marden. There is a lay-by car park just north of Locksash Lane on the right (see map).
The 'Fancy Free Walks' web site describes the walk:
A wonderful easy day out with some adventure, many views, every kind of terrain (except main roads and ploughed fields!), wild flowers in summer, an exciting forest and awesome parkland.
There are just a few nettles on the narrower paths, enough to make shorts inadvisable. Underfoot, there are good surfaced paths or country trails, or woodland, making good shoes or trainers fine in summer, although boots are always recommended, especially in other seasons. Your dog can certainly come on this adventure, but you need a lead for the forest which is a conservation area with nesting birds.
I suggest a packed lunch. There's a pub in West Marden at the end of the walk where we can get refreshment.
Please let me know if you'd like to join the walk so we don't leave without you. Also, let me know if you need or want a lift to the start.
