We plan to arrange car shares in advance, so will not meet at West Town.
Drive to Puttenham Top car park, grid reference SU919462, postcode GU3 1BE. The car park is on the right-hand side of the road from Puttenham to Elstead, a little over a mile out of Puttenham.
The route heads northwards from the car park to meet the North Downs Way, then eastwards to Puttenham where we visit the church. We then head south to Shackleford then to Norney and the medieval village of Peper Harow, where we can stop for a picnic lunch.
We return to the start via the small village of Gatwick.
The walk is on greensand for much of the route but there were still some muddy and wet patches on a recent recce, although there are diversions available for the worst of these.
The total distance is 8.5 miles, with 535 feet of height gain.
