We plan to organise car shares in advance, so will not meet at West Town Car Park.
Park at The Bridge Inn, Shawford, postcode SO21 2BP, grid reference SU475250 and meet for walk start at 10 a.m. (The pub will be closed at this time).
The walk goes into Winchester via Oliver's Battery, St. Cross and the water meadows. We can stop for coffee in the centre of Winchester. We return to Shawford along The Itchen Way.
It should be generally dry underfoot but there may be a few muddy and puddly stretches after heavy rain.
The total distance is 8.4 miles, with 500 feet of total height gain, mostly in the first mile.
Lunch is booked at The Bridge for 3 p.m. Please remember to enter your registration plate on the pub's car parking system.
