We plan to organise car shares in advance, so will not meet at West Town Car Park.
Park at the Red Lion, Chalton, postcode PO8 0BG, grid reference SU731160 for walk start at 10 a.m. latest.
We walk North through the eastern side of Queen Elizabeth Country Park as far as the South Downs Way above Buriton. We walk east for about a mile then pick up the Staunton Way past Ditcham Park School, and descend to cross the railway by footbridge. There is then a short and savage climb back into Chalton.
Lunch is booked for 1.30.
It should be generally dry underfoot.
The total distance is about 7 miles with 950 feet of height gain. There is one fairly steep descent where the chalk could be slippery but it should be possible to keep on grass and wet leaves. Bring poles to make sure.
