We plan to organise car shares in advance, leaving Hayling around 9 a.m., so will not meet at West Town Car Park.
Park at Amberley Station (free) postcode BN18 9LR, grid reference TQ027118 for walk start at 10.00 a.m.
We start by walking up the South Downs Way – most of the walk’s height gain comes in the first 2 miles. The descent from the Downs is not steep but is slippery so poles may assist. We then walk through Parham Park and return via Amberley village and a short section by the River Arun.
The route should not be muddy.
The total distance will be 9.3 miles, with 800 feet of total height gain.
Both the Riverside Café and the Bridge Inn near Amberley Station serve food until 3 p.m., so we will have a choice of venues for a late lunch.
