Emsworth & Westbourne

A walk of around 4.5 miles.

Meet in the West Town car park at 9.15am to car share and leave at 9.30am. Proceed to the Emsworth car Park - next to the Coal Exchange pub. The cost is 4 hours for £3.20, sharing is advisable. The walk will start at 10am.

Starting from the Coal Exchange pub, taking in foreshore (tides permitting), crossing over at Lumley Road. Follow the River Ems, passing Lumley Weir and ruins of Lumley Mill, arriving at Westbourne. Head for the Square and coffee shop for a welcome coffee and cake if so desired. We then head up the road towards Emsworth. Just past the Wellness Centre turn left at a slightly hidden path. We then go across a field (there may be cows), go under the motorway and railway bridge into Brook Meadow, which is a Local Nature Reserve. Look out for any bank (water) voles. Continue through Nature Reserve and arrive back in Emsworth.

Parts of the walk may be muddy/wet so please wear stout footwear. The walk is flat with no stiles. Lunch can be taken at the Coal Exchange pub (walkers welcome).

Please notify Pam Elliott by Friday 22nd October if you will be coming.
