Note this walk has been brought forward a week from the usual schedule to avoid the bank holiday.
We will be able to lunch after the walk at Durleighmarsh Tea Barn, as we did after our walk from here to Petersfield in 2024. However the walk will be different this time, circling south-eastwards after crossing the River Rother.
Meet at West Town Car Park by 9.00 a.m. for car share to Durleighmarsh. Park in the car park of the Durleighmarsh Farm Shop and Tea Barn, postcode GU31 5AX, grid reference SU785238.
We will start the walk at 10.00 at the latest.
This is a 4.0 mile walk with only 1 stile and 200 feet of height gain. We go past the site of Durford Abbey then cross the River Rother to the back of Sky Park Farm, walk past the sand quarry at West Heath Common and return by the path which runs alongside the old Petersfield to Midhurst railway line.
The route is normally dry underfoot, with mud possible in a few places if we have a lot of rain shortly before the walk.
Late elevenses or an early lunch are available at the Tea Barn.
