Meet at West Town Car Park for 9am for car share and departure for The Rising Sun, Clanfield, postcode PO8 0RN, grid reference SU698169, for walk start at 9.45. The pub will be open if you wish to pre-order lunch.
This is a 4.4 mile walk with no stiles and 500 feet of height gain. It climbs slowly and steadily up to the South Downs Way, with views down to East Meon and back to Hayling. Some Bluebells were visible on the recce, and hopefully a lot more will be out on the day of the walk.
The route is largely on metalled roads. There was some mud on the paths, but no worse than the mud on our last walk at Boxgrove. The walk uses the minor road from Clanfield to Butser Hill which is not busy but you may feel safer if you wear a hi-viz vest or a brightly coloured top.
We should get back to the pub for lunch at about midday.
