  All things being equal, I’d have suggested a trip to/from Petersfield (with the option of taking the train in either direction).
  
  Compton is another possibility.
  
  However, I’m unable to guarantee to be available to lead the ride as Margaret is still in hospital having suffered a bad infection with accompanying delirium. She’s showing signs of recovery but will need support when she is discharged.
  
  So rather than make a concrete suggestion, I’m looking for an alternative leader who can then offer their preferred route.

  Because of the adverse weather forecast and the very heavy showers we’ve had recently, Peter and I have decided to postpone the ride for a week to Tuesday 13^th September.
  
  We’ll go to Compton.

  Having had a soaking last week and not needing a rerun- have become a ‘ fair weather ‘ cyclist and so will not attend today – Met office rainfall radar forecast is damp!!
