West Marden - Victoria Inn

The walk is 4 miles.

We’ll meet in the car park of the Victoria Inn at West Marden at 10am. Before we set off, the pub would like each person to go inside and tell them what they’d like to eat for lunch. Please look at the menu on the pub’s web site before 27th so you’ll know what’s available.

We turn right out of the pub, walk a short way along the lane, then take the second footpath on the right. This path goes uphill fairly steeply through a wood and is uneven and stony underfoot. Proper walking boots are advised. Care is needed in the woods not to trip on tree roots. We continue beside a field, then go back into a wood. We walk in the direction of Finchdean. At South Holt farm we turn left and shortly left again. Then we walk in a north easterly direction on footpaths, going uphill through another wood and passing near Forestside, back to the pub. The walk is circular and 4 miles long. There will be a short break for elevenses just after half-way, but I’m sorry there are no logs to sit on. There are four tree trunks and a stile to climb over!

I will not be going to the community centre car park, as I will cycle to West Marden. Lifts need to be sorted out before 27th. So, if you’re able to offer lifts, please would you contact me by 20th and say how many people you could take? If you’d like a lift, please let me know by 20th and I’ll try to sort it out.
